The Manchester Grand Hyatt is luxurious, the location excellent & the service top notch. I was on a higher floor facing the water. The rooms are soundproofed well & it was clean & modern throughout, though room service could have been faster with our bathrobe & other requests. The top floor lounge had a fantastic view & the restaurants downstairs were decent, though I’d recommend eating elsewhere since the hotel is located near gastown, little italy, seaport village, & other landmarks. On the fourth floor there’s one adult pool & one family pool (they are on opposite sides of the floor) with jacuzzis & ample chairs for relaxing. There is also a view of the water on this floor. During the daytime there are many families with kids in the family pool area but at night the fire pits come on & the pool area takes on a different feel altogether. The 24 hour gym is large & modern & has a great view of the water. Valet parking is expensive and self-parking is also expensive. Doing either of these things for multiple days is a good way to burn a hole in your wallet.
I had a lost & found experience at this hotel. After check out, I called about a pair of earrings that we left behind. They sent security to go search the room & couldn’t find it. Miranda at the front desk was very helpful & let me go myself. The customer she dealt with before me was angry & gave her a tough time but she remained professional & didn’t let it change her mood even though she couldn’t have been unaffected. In the end, I was able to get the earrings back for my girlfriend & be on our way smoothly & without too much hassle. If you are planning to stay in San Diego, this hotel should be on your list.
